The modulation of chromatin structure and function is the basis of epigenetic regulation. The replacement of replication-coupled histones in the nucleosome by histone variants is still one of the least understood aspects of chromatin regulation. Advances in recent years have made it clear that histone variants play a pivotal role in development and cancer.

We will discuss the latest molecular insights into how histone variants are regulated and how they execute their epigenetic function.

This EMBO workshop, organized by Marcus BUSCHBECK (Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute) and Emily BERNSTEIN (Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, US), will be held at the Josep Carreras Institute headquarters (Badalona, Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain) on 22-24 September 2021.

This is the fourth workshop in a series focused on histone variants, and will be the first to be organized in a hybrid format*, with an adapted program to make it as interactive and intimate as possible for both in-person and virtual participants.
