The Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute, a CERCA center of the Generalitat de Catalunya, has received this Monday the visit of the Catalan Minister of Research and Universities, Mr. Joaquim Nadal. The Catalan Minister has been accompanied by the director of the Institute, Dr. Manel Esteller, the president of the Management Committee of the institution, Dr. Evarist Feliu, and the Acting Managing Director of the Institute, Ana Garrido.

After meeting with the Institute's management team to learn about and discuss the current and future projects of the institution, Mr. Nadal has visited the scientific facilities of the center, such as the microscopy area, the bioinformatics unit and the cell culture rooms. He has also had the opportunity to discuss with some researchers of the center and learn more about their work.

Mr. Nadal, who is also the second vice-president of the the Josep Carreras Institute’s Board of Trustees, has shown great interest in the work carried out by its professionals and has also commended its "cutting-edge research to advance towards more effective and less invasive treatments against cancer, more personalized and above all with greater efficacy". Dr. Manel Esteller thanked the Catalan Minister for his visit and stressed that "the fight against cancer is a national strategy, and that is why the support of the authorities and society is so important".
