The Institute provides protective material and technical resources during the health crisis by COVID19

The Josep Carreras Institute provides prevention materials and technical laboratory resources to support health personnel and caregivers of vulnerable people and those at risk due to the COVID-19 crisis.

The Catalan Health Service has called on citizens and different organizations to send protective materials, such as gloves, masks, or suits, to prevent the infection of health personnel who are in the front line of care for patients with COVID-19.

From the headquarters of the Germans Trias i Pujol Campus of the José Carreras Institute in Badalona, the use of all the machines and laboratory equipment for tests and trials has been ceded to the Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital, and given masks to the Catalan Institute of Oncology. Gloves, masks, and protective glasses have also been sent to the Sant Francesc d'Assís Foundation, which looks after the care of the elderly and the mentally disabled. Furthermore, protective material for healthcare personnel such as gloves, lab coats, suits, and masks, among others, have also been donated from the Institute's Clinic Campus headquarters in Barcelona to Clinic Hospital.

"From the Institute we support and are grateful for the enormous effort and dedication that the doctors, nurses, assistants, and all the health personnel are making to care for and attend to the public in these difficult times," said Manel Esteller, Director of the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute.
