Last Tuesday, November 30th, in the auditorium of the Fundació Miró in Barcelona, ​​the ceremony for the XXIV Àmbit de la Infància Prize of the Fundació Agrupació was held, which awarded a research project on acute lymphoblastic leukemia led by Dr. Biola M. Javierre and Dr. Lucía Fanlo, from the Josep Carreras Leukemia Research Institute. The event was chaired by Mr. Jordi Ferrer and Mrs. Soledad Nieto, president and treasurer, respectively, of the Foundation.

B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia is the most common pediatric cancer. According to estimations, 20% of children who suffer from it relapse and, among these, the 10-year survival rate is below 35%. The project, coordinated by Dr. Lucía Fanlo, seeks to understand why relapses occur at the cellular level to identify children at higher risk of relapse more accurately, and develop better treatments for them.
