"Modelling Clonal Hematopoiesis and Epigenetic Aging from an Evolutionary Perspective uncovers novel early-detection strategies for Leukaemia"

Dr Eric Latorre Crespo

Centre de Recerca Matemàtica & Centre for Genomic Regulation

The hosts of this seminar are Marcus Buschbeck and Eduard Porta.

Eric Latorre is a cross-disciplinary scientist leading a research group in the field of hematological malignancies and epigenetic aging at the Barcelona Collaboratorium for Mathematical Modelling and Predictive Biology. After completing his PhD in Fourier analysis at ICMAT (2018), Eric was awarded an independent Cross-Disciplinary Fellowship at the University of Edinburgh (2019-2023), bridging the Institute of Genetics and Cancer and the School of Informatics. There he established a long lasting interest in developping mathematical models from a systems biology perspective to study how somatic genetic, and epigenetic, mutations arise and expand in the haematopoietic system over a lifetime and drive aging patterns and age-related malignancies. He subsequently joined the CRUK Scotland Institute at the University of Glasgow (2023) and returned to Barcelona in 2024 to establish his research group in Barcelona.
