"Integrative epigenomics of SWI/SNF driven 3D genome rewiring"
Dr Cem Meydan
Weill Cornell Medicine, Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology
The host of this seminar is Eduard Porta.
Dr. Cem Meydan is an Assistant Professor of Computational Biology at Weill Cornell Medicine. He uses single cell, spatial, and 3D epigenomic profiling to map the gene-regulatory circuits that drive hematologic cancers and B-cell fate. His research applies integrative multi-omics analyses to connect epigenetic modifiers and chromatin remodelers with enhancer rewiring, immune-microenvironment shifts, and therapeutic response. His work spanning city-scale metagenomic profiling, multi-omic cancer research and deep molecular characterization of spaceflight biology have appeared on the covers of Nature, Science and Cell and have been reported by The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, CNN and other media outlets. Dr Meydan earned a BS in Computer Science from Izmir Institute of Technology, a PhD from Sabanci University focused on machine learning and bioinformatics, and completed postdoctoral training at Weill Cornell.
